Associations, Clubs and other non-profit organizations
An Association, Club or other non-profit organization website is intended to be a forum for members to get information about current activities, and for persons interested in becoming members to get information about who you are and what you do and thus be encouraged to join.
Most local association or club Websites have such things as:
- Mission statement.
- Information on what the group is and what it does.
- Membership information, which could include a means of signing up online.
- Recent activities announcements and pictures.
- Downloadable newsletters.
- Upcoming events calendar.
- Contact information for the Board or head of the group.
- Links to other similar associations and websites of interest, which often are set up on a reciprocal basis with the other websites.
Such a website does not require a lot of time to design and create for a competent website designer, but if intended for communication to existing members it will require regular updating to remain interesting to the group. If your site is intended to interest new members more than to be a source of news for your current members, you can cut down on the amount of updating required.
After your site is built and online, the next thing is to make it pop up when someone searches for information about something related to your association. This is the key, otherwise only your existing members really see your website. Key words must be included in the description and your site itself, and actions taken to have it included in the main search engines currently in use.
The "Associations" Package consists of:
- Design and creation of 10 Web Pages*, generally a Home Page, an About Us page, a Membership page (can include downloadable membership application form), an Upcoming Events page, a Recent News page, a Contact Information page and any other types of pages which best fit your organization's activities.
- Assistance with shopping for and setting up with a web host company.
- Assistance with registering your domain name (if not provided free by the web host company).
- Uploading and setup of the website on the host server.
- Ensuring tags and keywords included in the site for search engine placement.
- Submitting the site for placement with the main search engine listings for Canada/US. If you wish to submit to search engines which have a cost associate with submission, you may pay the cost and I can do the submission. (Note that it may take some time before the search engines locate and list your website, this is a normal part of the process. The more people you encourage to go visit your new website the better your site will rank in the search engine listings.)
- Submitting the information about your site to other organizations who may be interested in listing your site in their links pages. (Up to 25) This brings more traffic to your site.
- 5 hours of updating information on your site to give recent news, upcoming events, etc.**
* Design and creation of web pages includes: An initial meeting to determine what the pages will consist of and the general look of the site. You provide the text and as much of the graphics as possible (i.e. pictures of products, your business, owners, logo, etc.). Graphics may be provided in hard copy (no extra charge to scan) or in digital format (on disk or emailed). I will then design the site, and consult with the person in charge on any changes you wish to make once you see the result until the site is to your satisfaction. Changes will be made, and the final product posted and activated on the Internet. Then I will send out the requests for the search engine listings.
**You may later send me any updates which you want added or changed to your site, such as pictures and writeups of recent events, upcoming events calendars, etc and I will do this based on time required (minimum 15 minutes per occasion) and the first five hours of such updating is included in the package.
Sites can be set up in a Content Management System for further maintenance by customer going forward if desired.
Quotes provided after an initial consultation to figure out what features and functions your site requires, what your ongoing maintenance options are after the initial build, and to get an idea of your style preferences.
